I have been teaching art for 20 years and have exhibited nationally and locally since 1983. My artwork explores the delicate and sometimes broken relationship between nature and human culture. It incorporates representational images of butterflies, coral, glaciers, and other environmentally fragile natural forms, with abstract painterly passages. I work mainly with oil paint, acrylic, wax, collage, graphite, and watercolor. I have also coordinated, curated, and served as a juror and judge for numerous exhibitions and arts events in New York City and the Bay Area and worked as an illustrator, on sets and lights for off-Broadway shows in New York, and painted murals in San Francisco. When I’m not teaching and working on art, I spend time with my wife and kids traveling, camping, and hiking. I volunteer as a 4H leader because my kids raise livestock and do leadership work with 4H.
