Study Chemistry at EVC
As EVC students, our instructors take the fear out of chemistry. Students come from a wide array of backgrounds. Those students include recent high school graduates, students who have been removed from taking a formal class for a few years, or students looking for a career change. The diversity of our students is an asset.

State-of-the-Art Labs
Students work on experiments with the most modern instruments in our state-of-the-art labs. For upper-division students, instruments include Gas chromatography (GC) Mass spectrometer (MS), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (NMR), Fourier-transform Infrared\FT-IR, and UV-vis spectrometer.
Chemistry On Your Schedule
We realize students have busy lives, so we offer some classes with an online lecture portion and in-person labs. Take a look at the class schedule for this particular option.
Transfer Degrees
EVC offers a degree in chemistry with the option of transferring. These classes are in both general and organic chemistry as well as Calculus and Analytic Geometry. Classes also satisfy GE requirements for transferring students.
Transfer to a UC / CSU
Students who end up majoring in Chemistry have gone on to prestigious schools, including many of the UCs, including UCLA, UC San Diego, Cal, and UC Davis, as well as Stanford and San Jose State.
If you enroll in an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program at EVC, you can transfer to a CSU and graduate with only 120 units.

Careers in Chemistry
Many students satisfy the Chemistry portion of their students before going into the healthcare, pharmaceutical, dental, or nursing field. A Chemistry degree can also lead to careers in personal care, non-government and government organizations, oil, chemical engineering, forensic, or environmental science fields. The degree opens up a world of possibilities.
