What's it like working in water? Water work includes lab, compliance, maintenance, operations, and engineering. Here's a brief explanation of each area:
LAB WORK Hands-on work in water or wastewater laboratories to monitor the treatment process.

COMPLIANCE WORK: As an Environmental Compliance inspector, identify and prevent current and potential sources of pollution.

MAINTENANCE: Inspect, clean, maintain, construct, and repair systems such as sanitary sewers, storm drains, pump stations, pipes, manholes, and catch basins.

OPERATIONS: As treatment and distribution operators remove pollutants and contaminants from wastewater and manage the safe transport and disposal of treated wastewater.

ENGINEERING: Assesses the environmental impact of infrastructure projects, such as capital planning, to become an environmental engineer.
